   Purpose of ASHRAE   TC  2.6: 
   To develop, promote and disseminate information and tools that enable HVAC System Engineers, Contractors, Manufacturers, and Owners to design and implement quiet air conditioning systems.

A procedure has been proposed for measuring sound in rooms.   It is now being prepared as an ASHRAE Standard.  It is still being developed and tested for uniformity of results.
